ArcView 9.x is designed with an intuitive Windows user interface and includes Visual Basic for Applications for customization. ArcView consists of three desktop applications: ArcMap, ArcCatalog, and ArcToolbox. ArcMap provides data display, query, and analysis. ArcCatalog provides geographic and tabular data management, creation, and organization. ArcToolbox provides basic data conversion. Using these three applications together, you can perform any GIS task, simple to advanced, including mapping, data management, geographic analysis, data editing, and geoprocessing.
ArcGIS 3D Analyst (ArcGIS Extension) that provides advanced tools for three-dimensional visualization, analysis, and surface generation.
ArcPress for ArcView GIS (ArcView Extension) is a graphics metafile rasterizer that enables ArcView users to enhance their capabilities for outputting high-quality maps. Using the ArcPress extension, any map or view within ArcView can be sent easily to high-quality printers or export formats while maintaining a consistently high-quality output.
ArcGIS Spatial Analyst (ArcGIS Extension), you can derive information about your data such as terrain analysis, spatial relationships, suitable locations, and the accumulated cost of traveling from one point to another. Cell-based raster data sets, or grids, are especially suited to representing traditional geographic phenomena that vary continuously over space, such as elevation, slope, and precipitation, and can also be used to represent less traditional types of information such as population density, consumer behavior, and other demographic characteristics.
ArcView 3D Analyst (ArcView Extension)enables users to create, analyze, and display surface data. This generic surface modeling package is ideal for both the novice and the advanced user, its functionality answering the needs of those performing tasks related to surface analysis and display. Unique features of ArcView 3D Analyst include support for triangulated irregular networks (TINs) and simple three-dimensional vector geometry, as well as interactive perspective viewing.
ArcGIS StreetMap (ArcGIS Extension) ArcGIS StreetMap provides nationwide address matching and streetmap display for the entire United States. StreetMap layers automatically manage, label, and draw features such as local landmarks, streets, parks, water bodies, and other features. StreetMap can find nearly any address in the USA by interactively matching a single address or by batch matching from a file of addresses.
ArcView Image Analysis (ArcView Extension), an optional extension to ArcView, provides enhanced geographic imaging tools to the desktop. ArcView Image Analysis enables ArcView users to go beyond using images as a backdrop for vector maps. Digital imagery can also be used for data visualization, data extraction/creation, and analysis.
ArcPress for ArcGIS (ArcGIS Extension) is a PostScript-based Raster Image Processor (RIP) for fast and high-quality printing and exporting of maps. ArcPress for ArcGIS translates maps into industry standard export formats or the native language format of your printer. Because ArcPress for ArcGIS does all of its processing on your computer, you do not need to rely on the printer to interpret, translate, and store data. ArcPress for ArcGIS allows printers to do what they do best -- print.
ArcView Network Analyst (ArcView Extension) enables users to solve a variety of problems using geographic networks (i.e., streets, highways, rivers, pipelines, electric lines, etc.) such as finding the most efficient travel route, generating travel directions, finding the closest facility, or defining service areas based on travel time.
MrSID Encoder for ArcGIS (ArcGIS Extension) enables the most efficient use of large georeferenced images in ArcGIS. MrSID's ability to encode large image files into smaller-sized high-quality MrSID files makes it ideal for use with maps, satellite images, and aerial photographs. MrSID reduces many image file sizes by at least 95 percent while maintaining the geometric accuracy of the original image. The MrSID Encoder included with ArcGIS has the ability to handle rasters up to 50 MB in size. The optional MrSID Encoder extension enables the encoding of rasters up to 500 MB in size and allows the mosaicing of multiple images into a single image file.
ArcView Spatial Analyst (ArcView Extension) provides a broad range of powerful spatial modeling and analysis features previously not available to desktop users. This extension allows you to create, query, map, and analyze cell-based raster data and to perform integrated vector-raster analysis.
ArcIMS provides the foundation for disseminating high-end geographic information systems (GIS) and mapping services via the Internet. ArcIMS is the only software that enables users to integrate local data sources with Internet data sources for display, query, and analysis in an easy-to-use Web browser.
ArcView Street Map (ArcView Extension) provides a single CD-ROM that allows street-level geocoding and display for the entire United States. The CD-ROM includes data for landmarks, all streets, and other features to produce a complete map out of the box.
ArcIMS Route Server (ArcIMS Extension) offers fast and accurate routing capabilities within the ArcIMS framework. It lets users perform rapid cross-country routing, set routing preferences (highway preferences, shortest route, or fastest route), and use precision settings to fine-tune results. ArcIMS Route Server is a valuable addition to any ArcIMS-powered Web site.
ArcView Street Map 2000 (ArcView Extension), an enhanced version of ArcView StreetMap, provides an out-of-the-box, completely automated street mapping and address matching capability for anywhere in the USA.
ArcLogistics Route is a complete out-of-the-box solution for complex routing and scheduling problems. Use ArcLogistics Route to determine which vehicle should serve each customer location and the best stop sequence to accommodate your customers' time windows while minimizing your travel time. Select your service area from the included high-quality street database of the United States and start finding accurate customer locations and building realistic routes the day you load ArcLogistics Route.
ArcView Tracking Analyst (ArcView Extension)...An extension that allows direct feed and playback of real-time data, such as Global Positioning System (GPS) data, within the ArcView environment.
ArcPad software is an easy-to-use, lightweight, low-cost solution for mobile mapping and geographic information systems (GISs). ArcPad enhances portable touch screen computers with intuitive mapping, GIS, and GPS functionality. ArcPad makes field data collection fast and easy, improves data accuracy, and provides immediate data availability and validation.
MapObjects software is a powerful collection of embeddable mapping and GIS components. Developers can use MapObjects to create applications that include dynamic live maps and GIS capabilities. MapObjects is an ActiveX control with nearly 50 programmable ActiveX automation objects that can be plugged in to many standard Windows development environments such as Visual Basic, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), Visual C++, Delphi, Borland C++ Builder, Visual FoxPro, and PowerBuilder.
MapObjects LT is a collection of mapping components for application developers, consisting of an ActiveX control (OCX) and other programmable ActiveX automation objects. MapObjects LT is based on the same industry-standard framework as MapObjects, so you can be assured you are getting robust state-of-the-art mapping components. MapObjects LT is specifically designed for developers who have more modest needs than those served by MapObjects.
